Dark bamboo spoon (Chashaku)

"Chashaku" is a traditional spoon used to serve matcha tea, an integral part of the Japanese matcha tea ceremony. The curved part of the spoon is used to scoop a small portion of matcha tea and place it into a special bowl ("matchawan"). The mixture is then whisked to a smooth consistency using a bamboo whisk "chasen".

Preparation method for thin tea ("usucha"):

Use 1 "chashaku" spoon of matcha powder and about 75-100 ml of hot water.
This proportion creates a perfect frothy texture on the surface of the matcha.

Preparation method for thick tea ("koicha"):

Use 4-6 "chashaku" spoons of matcha powder with 150 ml of hot water.
Thick matcha is much sweeter and harder to whisk, without the usual froth. This preparation method is used only in the Japanese tea ceremony.
