What makes this product special is that we use naturally grown (not synthetic) Hawaiian spirulina ( Arthrospira platenesis ). It is a blue-green microalga that grows naturally under the intense Hawaiian sun on the Big Island of Hawaii.

Spirulina is an ancient (appeared ~3.6 billion years ago) microscopic multicellular cyanobacterium (an intermediate form of life between algae and plants), more commonly called cyanobacteria. Spirulina grows in alkaline water bodies in hot climates with lots of sun. Produces energy from carbon dioxide and sunlight through photosynthesis. Grows in spiral filaments and reproduces rapidly by split spiral segments. Spirulina is rich in various nutrients, the combination of which is balanced in such a way that it perfectly meets the needs of the human body.

Chlorella is a genus of green algae (family Chlorellaceae) found either singly or in clusters in both fresh and salt water. These are floating unicellular green microalgae (phytoplankton). There are several species of chlorella, but perhaps the most popular is Chlorella vulgaris . Chlorella algae are considered the "cousins" of spirulina.
